Hot Jaguar S-Type Photos

Jaguar S-Type wallpaper, photos, images and pictures. The Jaguar S-Type, introduced at the 1998 Birmingham Motor Show, is a mid-size luxury/executive car, the car went on sale 1999. The name was a revival of a previous Jaguar model, the S-Type introduced in 1963, while the bodywork appeared to have been inspired by the Jaguar Mark 2 of the same period. The supercharged S-Type R joined the lineup in 2003 and the hope was that it would compete with the likes of BMW's M5 and the Mercedes E55 AMG. The "R" was powered by a supercharged V8 producing 390 hp (290 kW; 400 PS) , and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.3 s (0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.6 s). It included 18 in (457 mm) alloy wheels, wire-mesh grille and dramatic monochromatic paint. The "R" also has a sportier rear apron, side-skirts, and front apron with built-in fog-lamps, a rear spoiler, a brace located near the rear subframe, and "R" badging on the boot lid and both front wings. It was the most expensive S-Type, with a base price of £50,040 in the UK (US$58,995 in the United States).

Isuzu Axiom

Isuzu Axiom SUV Car

Isuzu Axiom car photos, images and pictures. The Isuzu Axiom was an SUV designed in Japan using a "knife blade" theme for its car-like styling. Built in Lafayette, Indiana, U.S. at the joint Subaru-Isuzu plant on the Rodeo platform. It jointly replaced the Trooper, but was itself replaced by the Isuzu Ascender for the 2005 model year. The name "Axiom" was determined by a naming contest held by Isuzu, and was won by Dr. Hakan Urey from Redmond, Washington, who suggested the name and won his own Axiom in 2001. The Axiom is available with a torque on demand four-wheel drive system, and a direct-injection engine was added in 2004, boosting power from 230 to 250 hp (172 to 186 kW). The Axiom's radical styling was too extreme for some although a surprising number of its design elements later found their way into SUVs from other manufacturers. Unfortunately, under the Axiom's cutting-edge body was the largely unchanged Rodeo chassis, which was judged to be crude by critics. The stylish body was also available only as a luxury entry which limited the sales market. The Axiom was discontinued in July 2004 after only three years of production, and the Lafayette plant became exclusively home to build just Subarus. It was retooled to build the Subaru B9 Tribeca. With the retirement of the Rodeo and Axiom, Isuzu, which once sold a complete line of cars, trucks and SUVs, no longer offered any Japanese-built consumer vehicles in the United States. From 2006-2009, the lineup consisted only of rebadged General Motors vehicles: a GMC Canyon pickup and GMC Envoy SUV. Isuzu began its withdrawal from North American markets, with Canada after the 2002 model year, followed by the United States after the 2009 model year. Also, the Axiom was never sold in Canada.

Nissan

Nissan Xterra images, photos and pictures. The Nissan Nissan Xterra is a compact SUV based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform as of the 2005 model year, and shares many similarities with the Nissan Frontier pickup. All Xterras are currently built in Smyrna, Tennessee and São José dos Pinhais, Brazil. It is called the Nissan Roniz in Iran where it is also built under licence by Pars Khodro, and is built and sold in China as the Paladin. The Xterra was named after the XTERRA series of off-road triathlon races. Nissan was the race series' primary sponsor until the end of 2006.

The Xterra was originally introduced in North America in the 2000 model year and was marketed as a simple, but capable SUV with the slogan Everything you need, nothing you don't. Although accepted by a wide range of ages, incomes, lifestyles and genders, Nissan marketed the Xterra primarily to the adventurous and outdoor consumer. Many commercials feature one driving the vehicle through mud, unloading mountain bikes out of the back, or packing up surfing equipment. Two design cues have remained constant through the vehicle's life, its raised rear roofline and the 'Hump' on the back lift gate. The raised roof allows for stadium seating and the hump allowed the inclusion of a first aid kit in the liftgate. The Xterra was not sold in Europe or Japan, where the smaller X-Trail and now Qashqai are Nissan's entries in the compact SUV segment. In the United States, the Xterra was Nissan's entry-level SUV until the arrival of the 2008 Nissan Rogue. In the Nissan lineup, the Xterra is priced between the Rogue and the Murano, but sized below the Rogue.

Pontiac Solstice

Pontiac Solstice GXP Photos

Pontiac Solstice GXP is powered by an Ecotec 2.0 litre turbo-charged engine, the first direct injection model to be released in North America by GM. The GXP represents a new specific output record for a GM engine – 260 bhp and 260 lb/ft of torque. At 2.1 bhp per cubic inch (130 bhp/litre), it is the best-performing engine in the Ecotec range.

The Solstice GXP’s engine is controlled by a 5-speed manual gearbox, although automatic 5-speed transmission is available as an option. Both setups achieve a 0-60 mph time of just less than 5.5 seconds.

Solstice GXP features GM's all-new Ecotec 2.0-liter turbo, the most powerful production engine in the Ecotec family.* This turbo with direct injection kicks a V-6's worth of power out of a four-cylinder engine, an estimated 260 horsepower (194 kw) and 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm) of torque.*

Pontiac Solstice GXP 2007The performance roadster will feature GM’s StabiliTrak four-channel electronic stability control system. It will debut in the summer(US) and is expected to be priced about USD$4,000 to USD$5,000 above the base Solstice.

Toyota

The Toyota FT-HS hybrid sports car concept introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. Calty Design Research designed the concept and suggests that it could fill the place of the Toyota Supra. FT-HS stands for Future Toyota Hybrid Sport. The goal of the rear wheel drive hybrid powertrain is to produce 400 hp (300 kW) and achieve 0-60 mph in around 4 seconds. This is accomplished by combining a 3.5 L V6 and an electric motor in a manner similar to the Lexus GS450h. Unlike the GS (and virtually all other current hybrids), a production version of the FT-HS would make use of a capacitor system designed specifically for quick charging and increased performance. Since the debut of this concept, Toyota has exhibited such technology in the Supra HV-R race car.

The 2+2 vehicle features a unique retractable roof similar to a targa top. The rear seats would be folded down when the roof is retracted however. In spite of the FT-HS being only a concept vehicle, Toyota's desired starting price for such a vehicle is stated to be in the mid $30,000 range.

According to Automobile Magazine, Toyota is planning to launch a production version of the vehicle in 2009. Toyota has yet to make an official announcement. An August 2008 article from Automotive News indicated that a production version was no longer being considered. However, a January 2009 article from Edmunds Inside Line states that "the V6 Supra replacement is still in the pipeline and is set for an early 2011 debut".
